Adjoint and Hessian of a Satellite Code Written in C
Abstract: The radiative transfer model Twostreams by Pinty et al. (2005) consists of about 300 lines of C code, excluding comments. The inverse model of Twostreams relies on derivative code generated by FastOpt's AD Tool TAC++. The adjoint is provided to a gradient algorithm to retrieve 7 parameters characterising vegetation properties from remotely sensed radiances. The Hessian approximates uncertainties in the estimated parameters. We also briefly report on recent applications of TAF to CFD codes.
