Integrating AD with PETSc (and TAO)

Abstract:  We describe the current status of integrating AD with PETSc and the  requisite steps to integrate a new AD tool. We present some  experimental results illustrating the benefits of analytic  derivatives for (matrix-free) Newton-Krylov methods.  We discuss  current and future work to provide additional AD functionality in  PETSc and TAO,  the toolkit for advanced optimization.
